STAYCATION: XENIA Hotel Pampanga + Puning Hot Spring & Restaurant

Last March 27, the first Bloggers & Partner’s Night was held at the newly revamped hotel in Clark Pampanga, Xenia Hotel. It was a night of connections, meeting fellow bloggers based in Pampanga, while we enjoy the delicious food and soulful music from the acoustic band.

And with that, I partnered with Xenia Hotel and their famous local attraction, Puning Hot Spring and Restaurant, to share with you WHY XENIA HOTEL + PUNING HOT SPRING SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT GETAWAY

Being at least two hours from Metro Manila, Pampanga makes an awesome destination for a weekend getaway. And whether you are planning to visit the region for leisure or business, Xenia Hotel Clark Pampanga, is your home away from home.

This Clark hotel in Pampanga is located near Sacobia river valley, a work of nature created by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. And less than 30-minutes away along the lahar covered foothills, there is a hidden paradise, Puning Hot Spring and Restaurant, ideal for adventure-seekers looking for relaxation.

I’ve visited plenty of hotels (thanks to my daytime job 😛 ) and Xenia Hotel’s lobby left me with a striking first impression. The impressive decor and all the details of the hotel ‘s interior design definitely appeal to guests wanting to experience a unique accommodation.

The lobby has plenty of creative space for social encounters, providing both intimate and social zones, as well as furniture delivering comfort and functionality.

With 145 comfortable rooms, guests are expected to have a perfect stay in one of the most modern and spacious hotels in Clark Pampanga.

And absolutely, we were all in for a special treat. When I got our room key from check-in, I was surprised that they gave us a one bedroom suite. It had one queen-sized bed in the room and one single bed in the living room for my pogi photographer buddy, Ryan 🙂 Thank you to the lovely ladies of Xenia Hotel <3

We were given a really early check-in since we came from Manila and our itinerary for that day was scheduled to start at 8:00am. We freshened up real quick in our room, trying our very best not to lay on the soft cozy bed, which tried to allure us to sleep all day instead. Hehe, nice try bed 😛

We loaded up on the delicious breakfast buffet downstairs before the adventure upon us.

We left at 8:00am in the hotel shuttle that drove us to Sapang Bato, the first station of our adventure. It was a short 15-minutes drive from the hotel.

As I glance at the car window during the trip to the base camp, I recalled the vow I made earlier this year to explore more of my home country since I spent almost the last two years traveling elsewhere, and I failed to see that the Philippines too is beautiful and rich with culture that we long to experience from other countries.

When I found out that this was no ordinary staycation, the wanderer inside me shined so bright, the sun would be jealous 😛 I mean, look at where we were headed…

Less than 30-minutes away along the lahar covered foothills, there is a hidden paradise, Puning Hot Spring and Restaurant, ideal for adventure-seekers looking for relaxation. This phenomenal spa and wellness facility was developed to camouflage the beautiful surrounding landscape.

The resorts facilities are divided into 3 areas, so allow me to share with you one-by-one the ultimate Puning  Hot Spring experience. Are you ready? 😛

Station 1 – Puning Hot Spring

This is the base camp, the first area where you will be received and also where you will have your buffet lunch after the tour. The transfer to the base camp is included in Xenia Hotel’s Puning Day Tour. I’ll be sharing their contact information at the end of this post for your references and also the Puning Day Tour inclusions 🙂

Upon reaching the base camp, you will be offered a set of clothes that you can wear, but this is not mandatory. Though I suggest wearing them as you do not want to stain your #OOTDs during the 4×4 vehicle ride, right? 😛

The 4×4 drive will take you through mountains, a wide stretch of deserted sandy lands, river beds, and pass several stretches of lahar fields. This was the first time I’ve ever ridden such vehicle, and by far, this has to be one of the most adventurous and scenic drives in all my adventures.

The view was incredible! Never have I imagined that Pampanga has this beauty <3

Station 3 – Puning Hot Spring

You might be asking why Station 3 is next… that’s because many are encouraged to go directly to Station 3 where you can soak in 11 thermal water pools that originate from Mt. Pinatubo. There is a high content of dissolved minerals in the hot spring that provides therapeutic benefits for the body.

After you have submerged yourself in the relaxing thermal water, you will then hop on back the 4×4 ride to Station 2.

Station 2 – Puning Hot Spring

Have you ever been buried in warm volcanic sand? If not, then you must add this to your bucket list!

Station 2 offers an out-of-this-world spa experience. We were buried from neck to toe in Mt. Pinatubo’s volcanic ashes. The volcanic sand is heated every day by 4 charcoal furnace underneath it. The treatment aims to relieve any joint pains and improve blood circulation. For the first 5 minutes, I was sweating so much and my nose was so itchy but I couldn’t move. Luckily one of the staff was kind enough to wipe off my juice and scratch my nose 😛

All of the staff at Puning Hot Spring are native aetas, indigenous people living in the area. Their smiles are contagious! 😀

After relaxing in the sand for about 15-20 minutes, we were then treated to a cool refreshing mud pack. The mud is from the erupted Mt. Pinatubo lahar which is said to help with skin allergies and promote healthy skin.

We then drove back to the base camp (Station 1), still covered in mud to shower and for our buffet lunch, which was ready for our attack 😀

After washing up, my skin indeed felt refreshed and rejuvenated. Wish it could be like this forever! 😛

Xenia Hotel and Puning Hot Spring

Truly, the Puning Hot Spring is an out-of-this-world spa experience. The adventurous 4×4 ride, soaking in the hot thermal pools and to being pampered by lovely natives was a noteworthy experience to all of us. I will absolutely recommend this to all my friends and followers 🙂
